The Modern west, or the “West” as it is known, is that civilization which grew up in Europe after the Middle Ages, and which spread to the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and much of the rest of the world.

Despite hundreds of years of war and conflict, it remains to date the biggest global influence in the world.
