  • Civilization: Qin Dynasty China

The Qin dynasty was the first dynasty to bring all China under its own rule. It reigned from 221 BC to 206 BC.

Qin Shih Huang, the First Emperor of China, brought all the other states of China under his rule, and so unified China. He carried out severe measures to put down opposition to his rule, so that after his death, in 210 BC, many rebellions broke out. These soon ended the power of the Qin dynasty, but brought to power the Han dynasty, which restored unity within China.
